Laser Matboard Notebook
When I first brainstormed the design of the project I thought of what one of my favorite things, the forest. I imagined a notebook with a simple graphic of a pine tree and my name. It was a simple design that would look well on a small notebook, i thought because of how small it is then the more complicated it was the harder it would be to make it out.
Order of Creation (Recipe)
After brainstorming, I found an image of a tree that I wanted on my notebook. It was a simple clip art of tree that could easily be engraved and cut out. Here is my file part done, the tree will be engraved as the back of my notebook and the name will also be engraved. In this screenshot I have yet to put a tree to be cut out by the laser.

Water Bottle Engraving
While brainstorming I wanted to make my water bottle a little less simple than my MatBoard. I thought of some things I like such as videogames. I wanted to display the consoles I play on like Oculus and Xbox so I decided to use the logos.
Pre-Work
Order of Creation (Recipe)
Here is my design in the Laser UCP, when I took this picture it was off center, that is why there is no red line in the center. Before printing reentered the design and it was centered correctly.
This is the finished water bottle, this is the Xbox side, Oculus is wrapped around to the other side. My name is also engraved under and wraps around the bottle to display under both logos.
What I Learned
I learned how to cut and engrave the matboard which is very similar to cutting/engraving the vinyl keychain. When printing I learned to make sure how to make sure the right material was selected and the right speed. Then I learned how to make the bottle. First I learned the equation for the wrap of the bottle so I could tell what the max dimensions of the design could be. Then I learned that the print must be rotated 180 degrees so the design would appear horizontally on the bottle. Next, I learned how to select a slower speed and a slightly higher power so it would fully engrave my design. Then, I learned to adjust the rotating jig to hold the bottle.
